How We Work
Every Forma project moves through five defined phases. Each one is deliberate — because the quality of the final building is determined long before the first stone is laid.
Phase One
We begin by listening. Before any design work starts, we spend time understanding the site, the client's daily life, ambitions, and constraints. We visit the location at different times of day. We ask about what has worked in spaces you've loved — and what hasn't. The brief we build together becomes the compass for everything that follows.
Phase Two
The first design ideas take shape here — spatial concepts, material directions, the relationship between inside and outside. We present multiple approaches and work with you to identify the one that feels right. This phase ends when the fundamental character of the project is agreed. Nothing is fixed yet, but the direction is clear.
Phase Three
The approved concept is developed into a resolved design. Plans, sections, and elevations are refined. Every room is considered in detail — proportions, light, materials, fixtures, joinery. We coordinate with structural and mechanical engineers. By the end of this phase, the building exists completely in drawings.
Phase Four
We produce the complete drawing set and specifications required for building. Every detail is documented — not because we want volume, but because ambiguity on paper becomes conflict on site. Contractor selection and tendering happen during this phase, and we assist with evaluating bids to ensure quality and value.
Phase Five
We remain involved throughout construction — visiting the site regularly, responding to contractor queries, reviewing samples, and ensuring the build reflects the design intent. The project ends with a thorough inspection and handover. We stay in contact after completion, because we believe our responsibility to a building doesn't end when the keys are handed over.
